I had an issue the first time I tried QLC+ 5 because I wasn't getting any light cones in the 3D view when I opened my main QLC+ 4 project. The 3D view would work as expected when adding a fixture to a new QLC+ 5 project, just not when opening an existing project.
Since I want to take advantage of the better 3D visualizer when programming shows (most of the programming happens in my DAW via midi CC, QLC just converts it to DMX commands), I started recreating my main show file in QLC+5. At first the 3D view worked, but midway through the setup I checked again and now the 3D visualizer doesn't work anymore. It's hard to say at what point it stopped working but not combination of restarts will bring it back.
Has anyone else had the 3D View break on them? Is there any recourse?
Light cones stop displaying

It looks like this is related to some fixtures being incompatible with the 3D view. there was another thread where they discussed this (https://www.qlcplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15542)
In my case, it was an American DJ Mega Flash DMX, and a custom definition I made for a Pavotube t8-7x. removing those from my scene made my regular pars show up normally in the 3D view.
However, now I'd love to figure out how to include the strobe and the pavotube's. Anyone know of a workaround?

talking to myself here. but looking into it further. it looks like any fixture defined as a strobe light breaks the 3D view.

The clue might be in the Fixture Definition.
If you open the QXW file for the American DJ Mega Flash DMX in the Fixture Definition Editor, you will notice that (on the Physical Tab) for Lens the fields "Min Degrees" and "MAx Degrees" both have value 0,00.
In the same way "Lumens" and "Color Temperature" also have a zero value.
If you had to build a algorithm to calculate the size of a light cone, what would the result be with those zero values?
Just open a QXW file of one of the Fixtures that is working (unfortunately you only mention Fixtures that are not working in your post) and find out what values they use for those fields.

A QLC Workspace is like a Bob Ross painting: "it's your world, you can create whatever you want!"
