I am very new to lighting & was naïve in thinking that, i could just purchase light fixtures & then they just run. I had never even heard of "dmx"

Yes, my mistake.

Anyhoo, two of the light fixtures i have i cannot find within this forums fixture definitions pages?

I looked several times on the 58 or so pages within the current forum pages.

Im not sure as well if these lights are branded under several different names to make my hunt a little more tricky :/

The lights in question are these ones...first off.

This one is a Cheapy, but affordable (just) for me. U`King 150W RGBW Laser Beam LED Moving Head Stage Lights DMX DJ Bar Disco Lights. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/405314922701

And the 2nd cheapy,l but i think its good is a laser, LED RGBY 4 Beam Laser Stage lighting Projector DMX Disco DJ Party KTV Club Light.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176454140253 I (think) this is a U,King, but not 100% an is most likely branded with different names??!

Im still muddling through & getting to grips with QLC with seems like an awesome software. But any help from anyone with these would be so much appreciated.

ps: New to forums also, so i apologise in advance for possibly posting in wrong dept? Grammars/tech speak etc... :) thank you QLC,ers

Hi Cypher,

in general my experience is that the type Number is good for the search, sadly I did not find one for your moving head, the LED Beam device might be ZQ03003 where the only manual I could find is this: https://www.uking-online.com/wp-content ... QPIwpxYHLw

If you can confirm that if that is the right manual and model/type Number it would be easier to help.

And by the way, there is nothing wrong with letting devices run in Auto/Sound Mode if it does fit the purpose, I tend to use more "simple" lights instead of a few very complex/feature-rich devices but that is just me ;)

Have fun

Do you know what class of laser these fixtures are? The product images will show you all sorts of crowd scanning and laser party photoshops but its an entirely unregulated industry where China is concerned and you can easily buy lasers that are too dangerous to use on a crowd. The rule of thumb for laser safety in the UK is to keep the beams 3m above the audience.

Hi msec74, Im glad that its not just me who couldn't find any details on the (3 in 1 moving head) .. i looked everywhere i could search for & nothing? But agree with your suggestion of just leaving them in .Auto or Sound Mode. :)

And yes, your correct in finding the model no.ZQ03003 for the laser ( which i did not know) nor is it printed on the enclosed manual?! The link you kindly provided, maybe, the correct manual for this model, but it is different in layout on paper & visually on the light. i.e. there is no mic, mic led or power light on the front of my unit, like there is in the manual link? Never mind, i really do appreciate your fast kind response tho :)

@Lampy101

Appreciate the heads up & is a good point, regarding the exact class to which this unit belongs.. I do not know, no. And the 3 page enclosed manual is as helpful as a chocolate teapot. With zero specifications, model numbers etc.

The 3 metre above audience head height rule of thumb seems sensible. Thank you. :)
